The 1912 Psalter
This is a metrical Psalter that sets all 150 biblical Psalms into poetry suitable for congregational singing, with each psalm matched to a specific meter and tune. It was created through an inter-denominational effort led by the United Presbyterian Church of North America. A Joint Committee from several Presbyterian and Reformed denominations produced a version first published in 1905, revised and finalized in 1909, and finally compiled and published as The Psalter in 1912. It contains hundreds of tunes chosen for their musical quality and appropriateness for the psalm texts, and it was widely adopted by denominations such as the Christian Reformed Church and others in North America as a primary songbook for worship.
